Comments: Morey's Diner, re-inspection conducted Thursday morning. No hot holding at time of inspection. Meatloaf cooking in oven. Significant improvement observed in overall cleanliness and owner/operator has addressed most violations cited during the previous inspection. The refrigeration interiors have been cleaned, thermometers installed. The front grill and hood have been cleaned, and the rear hood is in the process of being cleaned. The scrap-basket area at the front counter has been cleaned, and the area lined with vinyl paneling. Significant improvement to the restroom was observed: a new functional sink and faucet were installed, the restroom was cleaned, and will be adequately supplied after a detailed cleaning is performed. The drain-line in the basement has been repaired/reconnected, and the grease trap has been properly installed. Discussed with owner/operator; (1) fines may be imposed for repeat violations, especially for violations regarding the presence of pets (cat) in the kitchen, (2) on-going/continued maintenance and repairs to floor tiles and peeling paint in the kitchen walls.

Comments: Morey's Diner, inspection conducted Thursday at lunch. Hot holding meatloaf observed, 191F. Steam table items observed at adequate temps; gravy, potaoes, corn, 150-160F. Refrigerated items observe dat adequate temps. Thermometers installed. The Ansul System was last inspected April 2012. Discussed the importance of having a working adequate restroom. Revealed to owner/operator that the City Of Oneida is experiencing grease accumulation in the sanitary sewer on Phelps Street. Mr. Morey ensured this inspector that he is diligent not to allow any grease to go down the drain. Morey's has a Buffalo Biodiesel collection bin out back. Discussed required re-inspection in 2-3 weeks. This inspection was conducted earlier and then reported and debriefed an hour later. This inspector had to respond to an emerging complaint.

Hot holding gravy, and spinach temps adequate, discussed daily cooking and reheating temps and procedures. Scalloped potatoes and ham special was cooking during inspection. Two door reach-in refrigerator found to be recently cleaned and at proper temperature. Discussed continuing maintenance and plans to repair the tile floor throughout the diner. Discussed keeping cats from accessing the diner, repeat violations, and potential future fines.

Trash is adequately contained and removed, at time of inspection. The rear door window pane has beeen fixed/covered. The refrigerators and cooking equipment, including the meat slicer, have all been recently cleaned since last inspection. Hot holding steam table adequate, gravy 154F. The area under the counter has been recently painted. Observable improvement in overall cleanliness observed by inspector since last inspection.

Comments: Reinspection conducted. No food safety issues observed. All peeling and chipping paint has been scraped off. The hole in the wall behind the mini-fridge has been repaired. The large orange male cat was present in the restaurant. A "cat door" is available in the missing window pane of the back door. At the time of reinspection, there was no evidence of the cat being fed inside the restaurant. Hair restraints and hand barriers are available. Cook-line and area behind the counter is significantly cleaner than previous inspection. Discussed repeat violations and potential enforcement actions.
