Comments: Complaint #F1196 investigated. Complaint stated complainant found bug in taco. Complainant purchased drive thru order at 11:15 PM Tuesday evening and took order home; returned to taco bell store following day with adulterated food item containing insect. Manager removed insect and packaged insect and food item to send for QA; specimens picked up today. Manager showed pictures of insect; small, six-legged, segmented antennas. Pictures are somewhat blurry as a result of magnification, but insect appears to be possibly a beetle, a cock roach, or a box elder beetle. The operators has not observed and similar insects/pests in establishment. No adulterated food noted. No other similar complaints received. Pest control inspections have not identified any evidence of pests. The adulterated food item was stored at alternate location overnight. It is unclear at this time whether insect was present in food item at time of service, or if food was adulterated at a later time at alternate location. No hazards/ violations identified within permitted establishment. Manager will call OCHD with any information received from QA testing. Recommend negative at this time.
