Operator was advised to not only have septic tank pumped routinely; but also observe the top and bottom layer thickness and record them on monthly water operators report. (Any efforts taken to maintain well area potential contaminants is good to note on a water operators report) The layer build-up should never be greater than the baffles limitation to direct solids for setting and block the top layer from entering the leach field. Another item to be inspected is the baffling components integrity. Insufficient baffling will cause failure of the leach field. These observations can be used to help avoid failure and make improvements based on actual demand. |
